Audiences and supporters of young musical talent are being offered a valuable opportunity to experience an afternoon of exceptional performances from Perform in Perth 2026, with the release of a recorded session from the Church Hall at St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields Church.

The session, adjudicated by respected musician and educator Ellen Martin, showcases two competitive classes highlighting emerging cello players from across Perth and Kinross schools.

The recording captures Class 190: Cello Solo (Level 2), beginning at 2:00 pm, where a wide range of young performers प्रस्तुत works by Thomas Gregory, including Smooth OperatorAn Arabian NightLazy SundaysKitchen CapersAlpine Waltz, and Gridlock. Participants represent schools such as St John’s RC Academy, Perth High, Oakbank Primary, Pitlochry High School, and many others, demonstrating both technical skill and musical expression.

Following this, the recording continues with Class 191: Cello Solo (Level 3) at 3:40 pm. This class features more advanced performances of works by Pam Wedgwood, including Hungarian StompThe Next Time, and Ho Down, Show Down, performed by pupils from Crieff High, Kinross High School, Methven Primary, and beyond.

The session offers a compelling insight into the dedication and talent of young musicians in the region, as well as the supportive role of schools and music educators in fostering the next generation of performers.
