Young performers from across Perthshire demonstrated their piping, drumming and dancing talents at the recent schools competition.
In the Practice Chanter (under 11) class, Lochie Mackinnon of Craigclowan School won the Perth and District Pipe Band Trophy with 75 points, ahead of fellow Craigclowan pupil Seth Gordon.
The Bagpipes (March, under 15) event was won by Jack Folan of Perth High School with 85 points, followed by Archie Delaney of Strathallan School and Ruaridh Lean of Blairgowrie High School.
In Drumming on Pad (11 and over), Conan Lewis of Strathallan Prep School took first place, with Ewan Gillies and Henry Green, both of Strathallan School, placed second and third.
Scottish Country Dancing also featured strongly. Viewlands Primary School won the Schools up to P5 class and received the Queen’s Jubilee Award presented by the Perth and Perthshire Branch of the RSCDS, while Kinnoull Primary Schoolwon the P6–7 section, ahead of Viewlands Primary.
Among the piping classes, Mitchell McGregor of the Community School of Auchterarder won the Practice Chanter (11–14) competition, while Robbie Scott of Perth Grammar School won the 15 and over class. In the Novice Bagpipes (under 13) competition, Roddy Davidson of Strathallan School took first place, while Cameron Hall of Glenalmond College won the 13–14 section and Dexter Fraser of Larbert High School the 15 and over class.
Drumming prizes included a win for Adam Millar of Newhill Primary School in Snare Drum (March) and for Lucy Ramsay of Perth High School in Snare Drum (March, Strathspey and Reel).
The event highlighted the strong tradition of piping, drumming and Scottish country dancing among local schools.
